Compact Fluorescent Bulbs - You might have previously tried compact fluorescent (CF) light bulbs. Perhaps you found that the old ones didn't fit well in your lamps and no longer use them. DON'T GIVE UP! New CFs are now available in a truly compact style that easily fits most lamps. Initially, they may cost more, but CFs cost less when you factor in longevity and electricity cost savings. Compared to standard incandescent bulbs, each CF bulb saves $30 or more, lasts 8 times longer, uses 75% less energy, and keeps 1/2 ton of CO2 out of the atmosphere!. TRY THEM (AGAIN)!

Put your money where your conscience is! Support environmentally-friendly products. Boycott products, companies, and organizations that harm the environment. If no one buys it, it will go away!

Environmentally-Friendly Products

Toyota Prius--A hybrid engine car, using both a small gasoline engine and a battery powered motor. Never needs recharging! Ultra low emissions and gets 60 mpg (EPA city estimate) and 51 mpg (highway). www.toyota.com/prius

Honda Insight and Civic-Other hybrid cars with a highly efficient gasoline engine and a battery motor that never has to be recharged. The Insight gets an amazing 61 mpg city, 68 mpg highway (EPA estimate). www.hondacars.com/models/insight .

Environmentally-Harmful Products and Boycott List

Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and Standard Pickups--Some of these gas-guzzlers get 12 mpg or less. If you have to buy one, be sure it gets at least 20 mpg (city) and 25 mpg (hwy) (EPA est). Better yet, buy a high mileage hybrid.

Tropical Hardwood Products--Includes mahogany, teak, ebony, rosewood, and others. Largely unregulated and illegal industrial logging operations are destroying tropical rainforests around the world at such a fast rate that most will be gone within 10 years, and with them the mammal, bird, reptile, fish, insect, and plant species. Check products before you buy to see where they're from and what wood they're made of. Beware of "Imported Hardwoods."
